7:00 pm EDT

Meet ‘n Greet at the MicroTel Inn

111 Highway 129, Robbinsville, NC 28771

The Microtel Inn is located in downtown Robbinsville about 1 block from the intersection of NC-143 and NC-129.

Pizza and soda will be delivered for the group with a $5-6 price tag.  This time is reserved for just hanging out and meeting people, talking about motorcycles, and to distribute the ride literature if you did not receive a copy when you checked in.
(A donation to SE Rally Fund will be requested to keep the growth of this exciting event to continue.)

This will be a good time to start sorting out groups of three to six riders with compatible styles and preferences and to start familiarizing yourself with the routes if you haven’t already.

We’ll also exchange cell phone numbers and discuss the weather forecast for Saturday and any changes that might be needed. Rain will not cancel the ride, but could alter the routes.

Option 1: Same event as last year. Group ride to The Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC. www.wheelsthroughtime.com If you missed last year's event, I would strongly encourage you make this trip, it's one of the coolest collections of American motorcycles in the world. The owner will give you a personal tour and even start up the bikes for you. Plan to spend 3 hours at the museum and you won't even absorb it all! Grab lunch at the Mountaineer Restaurant on your way into town and after the museum ride back to Robbinsville at your pace. The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearbye, always worth the trip!

Option 2: Short ride through the mountains, since your butt may be kind of sore from riding in. A quick tour of the outskirts of the Robbinsville area has many enjoyable roads. I will document a few possible routes as part of the itinerary package.

Option 3: As suggested by attendees from last year, no official time was designated for riding the Tail of the Dragon, other than early morning or late evening rides...though those were the best with little traffic! Option 3 is ride the Dragon all day, at your own pace. (Dave, please be sure to watch your mirror to wave the girl on the pink Schwinn past). Ride the Gap till your arms fall off or it gets busy and then maybe go check out some other roads. You choose your schedule for the day, possibily eating lunch at the Deal's Gap Resort, home of the infamous Dragon Burger.

Friday Night Group Dinner: Meet at the Sweetwater BBQ shack, home of the flirtiest waitress staff in town, just ask Jon R. (three) Enjoy some slow cooked BBQ and good times after a nice day of riding...hopefully dry riding.

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Group Ride to Northern Georgia Mountains, Two Wheel Only Resort for lunch, Wolf Pen Gap Road, and a fantastic Highway 63. Total mileage for last year was approximately 250-300 miles.

Saturday Night BBQ and Campfire: The Two Wheel Inn staff graciously set us up a bonfire and allowed us to use their outdoor pavilion to host our event open to everyone. A donation of $5 got you some fresh cooked burgers, hot dogs, and sides, as well as entry into the prize raffle. BYOB and plan to stay late, sitting around the campfire having a technical discussion on counter-steering, led by Joe Nardy.

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

Pack-up and grab breakfast with fellow GSR buddies before departing. Avoid following Skip or Steve (ZRX Guy...sold it, moved to Tuscon, Az. ) down Highway 74 east and you won't get a speeding ticket. Ride safely home...
